What has really been eudaemonic lately are the small things. While that doesn’t necessarily lend itself well to the newsletter, it has been a week of slowing down and settling into the fall. We skipped out on a music festival in the mud and rain to watch the UGA/Alabama game with a big Caesar salad paired with appetizers from Chili’s (honestly, so good). I had Mahjong with my gals on Monday after missing our last get-together while I was at the beach. We had our monthly girls’ dinner at Adele’s (where I hadn’t been in years and was also so good). Reej and I had an impromptu date night. Other than that, we’ve been doing lots of reading and staying up on all of our shows. I’ve even stopped checking in on the many newsletters I get every week in lieu of a little quiet. It’s nice. But, it doesn’t give me too too much to share here. In an effort to keep things authentic, that might mean a slower cadence of newsletters to come. We’ll see how the fall shakes out!
EVERYONE’S TALKING
I feel like I cannot not acknowledge a few things in the stratosphere this week, but I also have seen them everywhere. So, scroll on if you’re tired of hearing about these things!
Nobody Wants This is the new Netflix series that truly everyone is talking about — and with good reason. Adam Brody and Kristen Bell star in the rom-com-like series that is witty and fun and really just delightful. I saw someone say that they like it because “nothing in this gives me anxiety,” and I loved that description. Plus, we love 30-minute episodes around here!
Ina Garten’s memoir, Be Ready When the Luck Happens! Released yesterday, it’s next up on my reading list. I am beyond excited to attend her book tour in December, but I have a feeling I’ll be long done with the book. (Starting as soon as I finish the very spooky Rock, Paper, Scissors by Alice Feeney — verdict still out on this one!)
The Weezie towels annual sale is happening now (20% off), and I’m tempted to pick up another of my favorite robes (and maybe some Christmas gifts!). We have slowly but surely replaced all of our towels with Weezie, and even Reej calls them “the good towels.” Particularly love the Scallop Starter Pack.
SHOPPING
Fall temperatures are definitely sparking some joy over here — love the change of a season. That said, my wardrobe needs a few updates to match the weather. Namely, a new pair of boots. I am loving these dark brown suede by rag & bone. These are a slightly better price, but both are sadly excluded from the current sale. The search continues.
This marbled wool skirt from Mango feels chic for fall — for work or out to dinner. Into this little bag there too.
A few years ago, I ordered a blazer and trench coat from DISSH that have remained fall/winter staples. I’ve been browsing their site for a few more staples, and I came across this gorgeous coat, a great dress for work, and a dark chocolate blazer — all added to the wishlist.
Lake Pajamas holiday is already here! How?! While not technically part of this collection, I always here great things about the Kimono set, so thinking I might pick that up in red or green for the holidays.
I stopped into Hart jewelry recently to pick up a birthday present for one of my best friends, and it was so much fun! Of course the necklaces and bracelets are fun to shop, but I think the experience of going into the store and playing and picking charms out is such a great experience. Really recommend for a birthday or special celebration!
EATING
Mentioned above, I made a huge kale Caesar salad this weekend and added roasted broccoli and brussels sprouts to really pack it with nutrients. I chopped the kale into tiny bites, removing all the stems and lightly massaging the leaves with a little salt and lemon juice. Then, I tossed in the veggies with a Caesar dressing and some parmesan, salt, pepper and lemon juice. Super easy and holds up well in the fridge for lunches.
I’m planning to make both of my favorite soups in the next week or so — Alison Roman’s chickpea stew and Lidey Heuck’s White Chicken Chili (with no chicken).
That’s all for now! Talk soon.
xx, Annie
