I cannot believe Monday is Labor Day! This summer has had its moments of feeling extremely fast and extremely slow, filled with some really fun and special memories. While Labor Day isn’t the true end of summer, it does feel like it’s winding down. And hopefully the heat goes along with it.
At the beginning of the summer, I committed to a social-media free season. I plan to write more about it when I wrap things up, and I’m excited to share the experience. For now, I’m planning to crack down a little harder until September 21. I have gotten a little loose with looking at specific profiles (a restaurant, blogger, etc. that I’m curious about), but I’m cutting that out for the remainder. Wish me luck!
One quick housekeeping thing — I am moving our features to every other week for now! They take a little more time to pull together, and I am working on building a backlog. So, you’ll meet my friend Alexandra next Wednesday. You’ll love her 😊
EATING
I simply cannot say enough great things about Caro Chambers’ new cookbook. We have made three recipes from it now, and each one has been so delicious, impressive, and importantly, easy. The tater tot egg bake tops the list (below) as a really tasty vegetarian breakfast/brunch option, but we also loved the cannellini bean caprese and salmon crunch bowls. Would love to know if you’ve been cooking from it and if so, which recipes you’re loving!
In the beginning of her book, Caro mentions that she keeps her cutting board out on the counter, which has inspired me to do the same. I love clean countertops for the aesthetic, but it really has made cooking feel a bit easier without having to pull down our heavy cutting board every single time. A tiny tip that has made me more inclined to be in the kitchen lately! (RJ gave me this cutting board and this chef’s knife for Christmas a few years ago, and they’re two of my favorite/most used gifts ever!!)
DOING
When my mom was in town, we spotted this watercolor kit on the shelves of Dozen, and it’s lingered in my mind since. I ordered it last night and plan to spend some time this weekend giving it a try. I cannot draw for the life of me, but I think with the outline there, I can hopefully handle what looks like a “paint-by-numbers.” I think these would make a fun gift!
I am just about finished with my Pink Doors Christmas ornament! Planning to try French knots for the first time, so we’ll see how that goes. It’s currently on sale at Greystone, as well as all other Coco Frank designs (one of my favorite designers!).
WATCHING
Good TV is slowly but surely coming back! We watched the first episode of the new season of Only Murders in the Building last night. The first season was outstanding, and they’ve seemingly tapered since then. But, we still watch and enjoy. I love Steve Martin and Martin Short, and the silliness of the show is endearing.
I also finished the first half of Emily in Paris, season 4. This show has had a grasp on me, though I cannot figure out who their target is. I sometimes feel I’m watching a YA show, and then other times it seems to mature for that. Regardless, I can’t not watch the never-ending love triangle in the Paris-set series. Looking forward to the second drop next month!
We started Bad Monkey a few weeks ago on Apple TV, now keeping up as an episode drops each week. RJ recently read the book, so he has enjoyed ID’ing the parallels (and departures). I don’t have to be convinced to watch anything with Vince Vaughn — all-time favorite.
SHOPPING
Hotel Lobby launched a home line this week, and I really love the look of the diffusers and hand soap. The bottles are beautiful and would look chic in any home. The scents are great too, of course.
Years ago I photographed a creative retreat, and ladies of espacio pop-up were there. They had made a few pieces of jewelry that they were wearing, and I remember asking where I could get them. Now, they have their own shop, and I love their fun, colorful necklaces (this one!) and the stackable bracelets.
The best horseshoe jeans are on sale at Shopbop right now (20% off, today is the last day). Along with a lot of other good things: simple bucket bag, my favorite bikini, suede ballet flats (or these if you want the emphasis on ballet, like me), and this beautiful cream blouse.

That’s all for this week! See you next Wednesday.
xx, Annie
