Yesterday, I soaked up as much of this cool weather that I could. I went for a long walk after work with my best friend, headed out for a jog that finished at our farm stand, and strolled home with fresh veggies and eggs in hand. It’s unheard of to have sub-80 degree weather in August in Nashville, so I’m trying to treat it like the gift that it is. While fleeting, it’s a nice reminder of what’s assuredly just around corner.
A last-minute visit from my mom was also eudaemonic for me last week. We shopped around and ate at all new-to-her spots, including Dozen (below) where we had the best-ever tomato tartine that I plan to attempt to replicate. I love when she’s here, and I did not want her to leave on Saturday!

This week, I’m excited to have my friend Abby Crowley of Persay joining us on eudaemonic. She and I have known each other for years, keeping up via Instagram and texting furiously about our weddings, photos and attire (both shot by Lindsey Shorter, one of my favorite people on the planet). I absolutely love keeping up with her home and travels, as we have similar taste and paths that seem to cross. Her store, Persay, has the most special gifts for any occasion (this colander!), and I love the corresponding Substack. Welcome, Abby!
What is eudaemonic for you lately?
ABBY: Daily walks with our puppy, Mottie! He's reached the age where he can go on longer walks and it brings me so much joy! Not to mention pride because a handful of people typically comment on how cute he is every walk.
What’s your go-to non-recipe recipe?
ABBY: In the summer it's What's Gaby Cooking's Basil Vinaigrette! It truly goes with everything, but I especially love it with pasta or risotto.
What is your ideal Saturday?
ABBY: Love this Q! 100% must start w/ a trip to the Farmer's Market (Freedom Farmer's Market at the Carter Center is my favorite in ATL). Followed by breakfast, preferably bagels, out somewhere. Then back home to unpack, nibble on fresh berries and rest. Next up would be shopping! Either online curled up on the couch or IRL at Jenni Kayne. As for dinner, I'd prefer to be on a porch with my best friends drinking wine and gossiping over the grill.
Who is your favorite follow of the moment?
ABBY: Alicia Lund has been my favorite follow for awhile. I love all of her recommendations — on IG and Substack!

EATING
Last year, our waiter at Rolf & Daughters told us that the trick to their amazing watermelon dish was Sugar Baby watermelon. I’d never seen one before until this past weekend. I cannot overemphasize how great this watermelon is. If you see one, buy it! (Locally, they had them at the corner of Granny White and Lone Oak, and they still had them last night.)
We also picked up some golden zucchini from the same spot, and we had one of my favorite non-recipes for dinner. Melt some butter in your favorite pan, and toss in slices of zucchini/squash with sliced onion and lots of salt and pepper. Cover and cook. Sometimes I pull it off while the veggies still have some crunch, and sometimes I let it stew down. Either way, it’s so good, and I don’t understand how people don’t love zucchini!
I am a fan of pretty much all Dave’s Killer Bread products, but I recently picked up the raisin breakfast bread, and it’s climbed the rankings to the top. Highly recommend!
WEARING
I recently pulled out my Sabahs (well, they’re technically the Baja Babas), and I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned them here. I don’t understand how they’re so comfortable — they just get better with time. Chic and easy and work with just about any outfit. I love the newer woven ones, and I think the men’s are great too. Worth a browse through their site!
My favorite running shorts ever are the Lululemon Track That in 3”. Sadly, they’ve been sold out for months, and I’ve had a hard time finding a replacement. I bought these from Athleta this weekend, and they are a little higher waisted than I’d prefer, but other than that, they’re a pretty good option! (Okay, I wrote this whole email, including links, went back to test them and my sold out shorts are back? I’m thrilled but also shocked by the timing??)
Still loving my Desmond and Dempsey linen nightgown. It’s totally outside appropriate — wore it to Mahj this week!
SHOPPING
Penny Linn has so many great new canvases. Planning to purchase one or some of these: McDonald’s fries, Nutcracker ballerina, Christmas bunny, a pink stocking, and Mahj joker that my friend Anna found. SO GOOD.
I’m seeing so many skirts still leading into fall, and I’m here for it. A few that I have my eye on … this from Cos, denim from Cos, and this bubble hem from Cos. I also adore this linen maxi from Alice Walk — the scalloped pockets are so cute, and I love a wide waistband.
I keep thinking about simple black sandals. These Jenni Kayne are so good, but these Tkees or Reformation are much better prices.
I’m about to pull the trigger on Roz haircare. I’ve been seeing it all over with seemingly authentic positive reviews. This discovery kit seems like a nice way to test it out.

That’s all for this week! Here’s to choosing happiness into the next.
xx, Annie

Love my Sabahs and that you have Abby featured!!
Thanks for having me, friend! I, too, don’t understand how people don’t like zucchini! Your summer plates look delicious—there’s truly nothing better!
